Code of Conduct

Last updated: July 12, 2025

Rafa League is built on mutual respect, fair play, and community. To ensure a safe and inclusive environment for all players, we enforce a strict Code of Conduct and Zero Tolerance Policy. Participation in the league requires all players to read, understand, and agree to this policy.

Zero Tolerance Policy

Rafa League maintains zero tolerance for the following behaviors:

  • Abuse or harassment of any kind, including verbal, physical, or emotional (toward players, teammates, or staff)
  • Discriminatory remarks or conduct based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or ability
  • Violent or reckless play, including intentional fouls or retaliation
  • Deliberate dishonesty during gameplay (e.g., refusing to admit clear fouls)
  • Intoxication or substance use (alcohol or drugs) before or during games
  • Any other behavior that is deemed inappropriate or disruptive by the league organizers

Rafa League is a self-officiated league. Players are expected to call their own fouls and approach disagreements with integrity and respect.

Violations of this policy will result in immediate removal from the league and possible suspension or ban from future seasons.

Player Discipline

In the absence of referees, each player is responsible for upholding the spirit of the league. If an issue arises, captains are expected to address their team's behavior.

If unresolved, a Rafa League convenor may step in during or after the game.

All incidents will be reviewed, and the following disciplinary actions may apply:

  • Verbal Warning: For minor first-time infractions
  • Game Suspension: For continued misconduct or repeated complaints
  • Season Ban: For serious or violent behavior
  • Permanent Ban: For egregious or repeated violations

Decisions are made at the discretion of Rafa League organizers and in the interest of player safety and league culture.

Alcohol & Substance Use

Alcohol and drug use is strictly prohibited at all games, both on the field and within the facility (including sidelines and parking lots).

Players who are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs will be removed from the game and may be subject to disciplinary action.

Captains are responsible for helping enforce this policy with their teams.

Spirit of the League

Rafa League exists for players who want a fun, competitive, and respectful soccer experience. Every player contributes to that culture.

We ask all participants to:

  • Call your own fouls honestly
  • Treat opponents like teammates
  • Keep emotions in check – even when it gets heated
  • Focus on building a positive, long-term soccer community

Thank you for doing your part in making Rafa League a fun, competitive, and respectful experience for everyone!
